APCUG Code of Ethics

All business conducted on behalf of the Association of Personal Computer User Groups, Inc. (APCUG) must be conducted in a manner that maintains the independence, reputation and integrity of APCUG and its member groups.
"APCUG officials" includes any member of the Board of Directors, the Board of Advisors and any committee chairman or representative appointed to conduct business on behalf of APCUG.

Conflict of Interest

Any APCUG official shall avoid any situation that creates a conflict or appearance of conflict between APCUG interests and personal or business interests.

Abstain From Voting

Any APCUG official shall voluntarily abstain from voting on any issue involving business relationships between APCUG and any party with whom that person has a personal employment, consulting or ownership relationship. The secretary shall duly record that such abstention occurred.

Disclosure

Any APCUG official shall disclose to the APCUG secretary any company, which has a current or potential direct relationship with APCUG, and with whom they have a personal employment, consulting or ownership relationship or from whom they have received personal reimbursement for travel or entertainment or similar expense.
Such reporting shall be made on an annual basis or promptly after such a relationship begins. This information shall be held confidential by the secretary and disclosed only to an ethics committee appointed to review any alleged non-disclosed conflict of interest.
The above voting abstention and disclosure requirements shall not apply to ownership by means of publicly traded issues of stock so long as the ownership represents less than one tenth of one percent (0.1%) of the outstanding shares of each class of shares issued by the company.
Any candidate for elected office in APCUG shall provide similar reporting prior to assuming office.

APCUG Fund Raising

All fund raising efforts shall be approved in advance by the Board of Directors and any services or benefits offered or provided by APCUG to a sponsor shall have prior approval by the Board of Directors. Any opportunities for sponsorship and conditions of sponsorship must be made available to all computer industry related companies on an equal basis.

Reimbursement

All direct reimbursement of personal expenses to APCUG officials for APCUG business shall be made through APCUG books.
Should a sponsor choose to pay directly for such expenses to the service provider (airline, hotel, etc.) then prompt disclosure of such payment and its purpose shall be made by the APCUG official to the APCUG secretary.

Acceptance of Provisions by Candidates for Office.

Any candidate for elected office in APCUG shall be provided a copy of these ethics policies and shall be required to agree to them as a condition of candidacy.
