On April 29, 1999, MicroLink PCUG presented two personal computer
"Doubletalk" speech boards to the North Orange County Regional Occupation
Program (ROP) high-tech computer center. The boards are designed to aid
persons with visual disabilities to utilize personal computers through
voice synthesized reading of screen information.

The presentation was made at the North Orange County ROP School Board
meeting, and Steve Sterry, President of MicroLink PCUG and Val Moeller,
California District 3 Representative and President of the Cabrillo Del
Rio subchapter of the International Association of Personnel in
Employment Security, a professional organization which provides support,
training, and information to state employment security agencies,
presented a special award to Yvonne Feehan, North Orange County ROP's
Disability Specialist. This award was signed by the Director of the
State of California Employment Development Department (EDD) and honored
Yvonne for her service to military veterans. Steve is also a Disabled
Veterans Outreach Program Specialist with EDD, and Yvonne's efforts and
assistance have been instrumental in placing disabled veterans into
special training which has led to successful job placement. The speech
boards were purchased with the 1998 Jerry Award grant which MicroLink
received from the Associaton of PC User Groups.
